"Two Giraffes" is one of the "Original 8:"
In 2013, I was a nomad living out of a van, traveling and occasionally making art that I'd trade for things I needed. One morning, I woke up and felt a surge of motivation run through me--a strong sense that this "hobby" of mine had the potential to be much more than that. I returned to Minnesota with urgency and found myself in something of a fever dream of art-making, producing 8 solid pieces over the course of the next six months. I see these as the "Original 8" that formed the foundation of what Brian's Dots was to become. They have a very special place in my heart.
I have a lot of respect for giraffes. I like to imagine them as creatures that have had to work very hard, to "stretch" and reach for things. Symbolically, giraffes represent attaining the impossible--but also peace, and perspective.
